Volunteer Coordinator

With around 750,000 visitors a year, Bradgate Park and Swithland Woods is very much about people as well as wildlife - our team of nearly 200 volunteers gave over 17,000 hours to the site in 2021-22 to help keep the site in great condition, as well as engaging with visitors. This comprised nearly 700 volunteer sessions and over 1,000 litter picking and patrol shifts! The role of Volunteer Coordinator is absolutely key to coordinating this incredible resource.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with excellent organisational skills who can coordinate and administrate our volunteer sessions. You will need to be able to work closely with the rest of the Bradgate Park team to ensure tasks run smoothly and build strong relationships with volunteers to ensure they are motivated, engaged and feel like a part of the team.

With 1200 acres of incredible green space, a Visitor Centre, amazing ruins and monuments, a café and Ranger and volunteer teams on site, we are looking for a motivated, skilled individual to join the team. Ideally, you will have some or all of the following skills:

  • Knowledge of the voluntary sector.
  • Experience of working with volunteers.
  • Ability to build strong relationships.
  • Strong organisation, administration and IT skills.
  • Ability to deliver clear and concise communication.
  • Experienced in monitoring and evaluation.
  • Able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.

For enquiries, please call our Estate Office on 0116 236 2713.

Visitor Centre Assistant

Bradgate’s story is one in the making, with new archaeological evidence being uncovered that prompts us to rethink and rewrite what we know about life on the park throughout history. Today, however, the park is one of the East Midland’s best loved visitor attractions. Hosting 750,000 visitors a year, the park offers rambling walks and sweeping views across 1,200 acres of green space, and is home to herds of red and fallow deer, a variety of wildlife, and a variety of veteran trees. At the heart of the park is our Visitor Centre, with exhibitions that tell the stories of the park, and its fascinating natural and human history.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working individual to bring these stories to life. Based in the Visitor Centre, you will be working to enhance experiences and educate visitors about the fascinating natural and human history of the park, while also overseeing the shop and refreshment counter.

Ideally, you will have some of the following skills:

  • A passion for engaging with and educating visitors.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • A can-do attitude, and a close attention to detail.
  • An interest in Bradgate Park, and/or natural heritage, history, or the tourism sector.

For enquiries, please call our Estate Office on 0116 236 2713.

To apply, please download the Job Description and Person Specification. Please complete the Application Form and return it to [email protected]. Your application should outline clearly how you meet the criteria outlined in the Person Specification. CVs submitted on their own without a completed application form will not be assessed.

Casual Catering Assistant

With around 750,000 visitors a year, Bradgate Park and Swithland Woods is very much about people as well as the wildlife.  A major refurbishment of our café is currently underway and we are now for enthusiastic people to join the team as Catering Assistants. We thrive on delivering excellent customer service to our huge number of visitors across 7 days a week, including bank holidays.

Our staff require excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work hard as part of a busy and motivated team. Some experience in a similar role would be ideal, as well as a reasonable amount of fitness and the ability to work well under pressure within a busy food service environment.

To apply, please complete and return the application form HERE
