Sustainability As managers of 1,200 acres of land, much of which is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), the Trust recognises its responsibility to protect and improve the environment. We will manage our activities, buildings and estate to reduce our carbon footprint, to conserve natural resources, and to work in a sustainable way. The Trust was established to care for Bradgate Park, now and for future generations, and therefore sustainability is a key consideration in everything we do. We will follow our Environmental Policy in a way that is consistent with building a financially sound business. We will comply with all applicable legal requirements and codes of practice. We commit to prioritising sustainability in the following areas: The way we work Minimising the impact of our activities, from land management to energy usage, and integrating sustainability into the Trust’s way of working Managing the estate Improving the biodiversity value and climate change resilience of our land while balancing this against visitor needs. Procurement Building environmental credentials and sustainability into our purchasing decisions. Waste Reducing, reusing and recycling our waste. Engagement Educating our staff and visitors on best practice, helping them to understand how their actions affect the climate and environment. In the future, we want to: Install electric vehicle charging at our car parks. Install solar panels and grey water re-use at our buildings. Launch campaigns to promote and increase recycling. Replace petrol and diesel estate vehicles with electric vehicles. You can find out more in the Trust’s full Environmental Policy, here.
