Swithland Wood Walk

A Spring walk through this ancient woodland of Swithland Wood containing some of the best remaining examples of oak wood in Charnwood Forest.

With rich and varied flora and fauna and also home to a diverse butterfly, moth and bird population. Learn about the historic Swithland slate quarries and how the Wood is managed today.

• Minimum age: 14yrs

• Well behaved dogs on lead are very welcome. 

• Parking is not included in the ticket price. 

• Our Hallgates car park is Pay & Display. 

• Our Pay & Display machines take card and coins. 

• This walk will involve walking over uneven and potentially weather affected ground.

• It will take place irrespective of weather conditions.

• Appropriate clothing and footwear are therefore recommended.

• Please be aware, we have volunteer photographers who record events on behalf of the Park, the images may be used for Park Archives and for future marketing purposes for example via our website and social media.
