Painting in the Park

Join Rita Sadler, a Leicestershire-based artist, for a quiet few hours painting in the woods. This two hour, mixed ability class will explore the world of "plein air" painting - the practice of painting outdoors.

This is an opportunity to slow down and reconnect with nature, practicing the mindful art of painting in the peace and quiet of our Woodland Workshop at Hunt's Hill. The session will be led by Rita Sadler, an art tutor with over 20 years experience in teaching art and crafts.

The workshop is suitable for all abilities - from newbies to novices! She will demonstrate how to interpret a woodland scene using simple tips and tricks, taking inspiration from the wooded landscape around you, and will encourage you to experiment with a wide range of materials.

Price

£20 per attendee, plus an optional £5 for material hire.

We have two sessions available. Choose from:

1pm-3pm, Sunday 30th April

Suitability

This event is mixed ability, and is suitable for complete beginners and those with more experience. Please note: children under the age of 18 must have an accompanying adult attending the session with them.

Meeting point

The session will take place in our Woodland Workshop space, accessible from the Hunt's Hill car park. Please meet Rita by the pay machine at the Hunt's Hill car park.

Accessibility

The session will take place in a woodland, and the terrain is uneven. Sessions will go ahead unless extreme weather is forecast. Please contact the Estate Office on 0116 236 2713 if you have any queries relating to accessibility.

Please park at Hunt's Hill car park. Parking is not included within your ticket. Please click here for parking tariffs.

This is an outdoor session which will go ahead in all weather conditions, except in the case of extreme weather that threatens the safety of our staff and visitors.
We are unable to make refunds for this session, except in the circumstance of the session being cancelled due to extreme weather conditions.

Winter Bradgate Park Photo Walk

This route takes in the splendid panoramic views of winter from Old John and the War Memorial. The walk will move on to the Sliding Stones area and then return to the Hunts Hill car park.
Feeding the Deer Photography Workshop with Danny Green

Join award winning photographer Danny Green for a unique experience to photograph the magnificent herds of Red and Fallow Deer as they gather at the morning feed by the Rangers in the PRIVATE Sanctuary area of Bradgate Park.

Bradgate Park is Leicestershire's only Medieval Deer Park to the north of Leicester City. Over 830 acres, steeped in history, teeming with wonderful wildlife, the UK's oldest fossils, 550 red and fallow deer and the childhood home of Lady Jane Grey. Rich in heritage, wildlife and amazing landscapes, Bradgate Park is Leicestershire's favourite day out with two tearoom and free-to-visit Visitor Centre.

Visit Swithland Wood

Swithland Wood is an attractive and atmospheric area of Ancient Woodland, covering 170 acres. Rich in history and wildlife, it is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The Wood is an important habitat for a wide range of plant and animal species, with rocky outcrops and old quarries.
