Meet our team of volunteers and learn about the fascinating story of Old John Tower. The Tower will be open from 12:30 until 4pm.

We will be taking out free short walking tours from the Tower, this will cover why Old John was built and how the structure evolved through generations of the Earls of Stamford. The story of the 7th Earl George Harry Grey and his rather marvellous wife 'Kitty' Cox and how their love of horses was connected to the Tower.

The Tower does not have a great deal of space inside, it is likely that there may be a short wait until you can access the interior, our volunteers will manage this process, so your patience is appreciated.

Whilst the opening is free, donations to the Bradgate Park Trust charity are appreciated in helping to maintain the Park for now and future generations. There will be a donation box available.

As you will be aware, Old John is somewhat exposed, adverse weather will impact on the opening. If the forecast is inclement, we would suggest either contacting us or checking social media to avoid disappointment.

Car Parking charges apply at £4 for the whole day when visiting the Park at a weekend.

Dogs are allowed but must be held on leads at all times whist in the Tower and on the guided walk.

Please be aware, we have volunteer photographers who record events on behalf of the Park, the images may be used for Park Archives and for future marketing purposes for example via our website and social media.
